LOCAL WRESTLERS SUCCESS. Wakefield Express. Saturday 9 October 1948.

Cecil Knowles, of Oulton, for the past few years has had a long run of success in all-in wrestling. In his career, Cecil has had 560 contests and won 450, losing only nine, and on two occasions he failed to reverse a decision.

Against Young Relyswysko he drew four times and lost once, and Rachind Anlar the same.

Last week at the Town Hall, Leeds, his opponent Johnny Bart only lasted seven minutes with one fall and K.O.

On Tuesday next, a vital contest will take place in Paris at the Palais de Sports when Knowles meets M.E. Pigeout, middle-weight champion of Alsace in the European International Tournament semi-final. The contest is one of the highest in his career, and on the is programme, also figures C. Lowe (The College Boy).

They are the only two English wrestlers to get to the semi-finals out of 64 European entrants. Knowles is a popular figure on Wakefield programmes and with a success in this tournament a good following should be recorded when he will be on the bill in Wakefield on October 26.
