Mick Cullen

Mick Cullen lived in one of these houses on Station Lane.

Mick Cullen was born in 1958 and lived at 14 Station Lane in one of these houses overlooking the railway. It was demolished to make way for the new road which was built to avoid traffic having to negotiate the difficult junction at the spot where this photograph was taken.

Mick’s father was a painter and decorator who was born in Dublin and came to Woodlesford to decorate Woodlesford Church. He lodged at No 14 and later married his landlady who had split up with her first husband, Fred Horton.

Click on the link below to hear Mick’s memories of living next to the railway line and how he and his brother used to take stools from the house so they could stand on them to look at trains over the top of the wall.
