Lawrie Maundrill. Born 1903 at Goole. His father Joseph was a labourer. In 1911 Lawrie was living with widow Alice Wright and a lodger, Walter Atha, at Primrose Yard in Oulton. He married dressmaker Edna Bulmer from Rothwell in 1932. His best man was Maurice Wrigglesworth. Lawrie passed away in 1980.
Percy Hammond. Born 1902. His father George Frederick Hammond had been the Woodlesford postman and was promoted to postmaster in 1901. After living at Oakdene Yard near Woodlesford station, in about 1908 the family moved to Normanton to live with Percy’s mother’s widowed father, John Ambler. Percy’s father left the post office to work as a colliery checkweighman. Later they moved back to live in Oulton at 12 Calverley Road. Percy became a miner and in 1922 left Southampton on board the Tainui to emigrate to Wellington in New Zealand.
Maurice Wrigglesworth. Born 1902, lived Leeds Road, Oulton. His father, Tom Wrigglesworth, was a labourer at the brewery.
