Pubs

The “old” Old Masons.
This photo was taken in one of the local pubs in the 1950s, possibly in connection with a darts match. In the middle, fourth from the left is Ernest Benson, a miner at Water Haigh colliery who lived on Claremont View. On the left is Dennis Williams and on the far right is George Crossland whose father, Walker Crossland, was killed on France during the First World War. The other men are unidentified.
